A B Corporation is one that has met the rigorous standards set by B Labs (non-profit), that include social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. For this particular project I was tasked with creating a yearly sustainability report for a B Corporation of my choosing. The company that stood out the most to me was Bark House®.

"Inspired by patterns in nature, we founded our business to utilize Reclaimed Appalachian Wood Waste (RAW™) and create pure architectural products in support of Independent Business Owners working to build “whole” communities." *

Through the practice of reclaimed forestry Bark House® creates interior and exterior elements, from natural bark shingles, to split-rail fencing and bark laminates. A complete list of the products they offer can be found on their website. The finished product provides a beautifully raw and elegant look. I was fortunate enough to incorporate the actual bark shingles into my design. I was able to plane and route the product to a more reasonable (thin and lighter) design. Upon opening the two panels, hinged by brackets, you find a DVD that showcases their products and environmental practices, as well as a mounted booklet. Throughout the pages I chose to show the true beauty of the products through the use of photography and typography. The report was printed on 100% post consumer NEENAH ENVIRONMENT® paper.

Alongside this project, I was also tasked with the recreation and updating of the Bark House® logo.
